4 SAD STORY Behind the Legend of IT

There is always a human behind the various technologies of Information Technology (IT) in the world. Human behind this technology is often called as a hero, because what they do may have changed the direction of the development to the world.

The story of the heroes, not everything ends with a 'happy ever after'. Here is the story of four characters are quite legendary IT but has a sad side.

1. Alan Turing

Turing, complete name is Alan Mathison Turing, he is a cryptology analysis and scientist of computer from england that has a big role in development of the computer world. Turing's heyday was during World War II, at that time he was a head to special task unit to analyze and solve the passcode Germany.

Achievements: Name of Turing became a legend through the concept called Turing Machine. The concept of this algorithm and computeritation, qouted by Time magazine he is the foundation of all existing computers in the world. Turing become famous through the Turing Test, a test to prove whether a computer system able to 'thinking' by comparing the computer answers with a human response to a series of questions.

Tragedy: Turing has a sexual orientation with the same sex. In his lifetime, homosexuality is prohibited in the UK. Consequently, to avoid prison, Turing was doing to therapy with hormones and chemicals. In 1954 Turing was found dead of cyanide poisoning, said he committed suicide.

2. Charles Babbage

Charles Babbage was the English nobleman who lived in the 19th century. He is an expert in mathematics, mechanical engineering and philosophy. Babbage also known as an inventor.

Achievements: Babbage can be said as the first one that spawned the concept of programmable computers. Not only concepts, Babbage was trying to make machines that could prove the concept like he say.

Tragedy: Unfortunately, Babbage was never able to finish the engine. source said, Babbage's ambitions is beyond the machine about his own ability.  Babbage has personality up and down to make some project just like jumping from one project to another.

3. Dani Bunten

Dani Bunten (Danielle Bunten Berry / Daniel Paul Bunten) is a game designer who debuted in the 1980s. His name is often associated with gaming legend Sid Meier because it supposedly Dani had a chance working to Civilization game that lift up the name of Meier.

Achievements: Dani Bunten success through the game M.U.L.E in the 1980s. This game is one of the first multiplayer game to be successful and many references the next games. Bunten game quite well-known options is The Seven Cities of Gold.

Tragedy: After three times failed in marriage, Bunten eventually chose to live as a woman. In fact, he did operation a sex as a women sex, which he later regretted. Bunten died in 1998 after been diagnosed with lung cancer, he had not had time to complete the Internet version of the game MULE.

4. Joybubbles

Joybubbles, born with the name Joe Engressia, he is a pioneer in the world of hacking. He was born as a blind and has the ability to listen and speak with perfect tone.

Achievements: Joybubbles is the pioneer phreaking, he has expertise breaking phone networks to make phone calls without paying. at that time he was able to do it with whistle a special tone on the phone. Joe's ability, followed by Captain Crunch (Jon Draper) by using a whistle presents a cereal products.

Tragedy: The Legend Joybubbles was getting bad story in childhood that was unhappy and full of torture. Joe overcome this trauma by making the Church of Eternal Childhood, changed his name legally to Joybubbles and declared his age as 5 years to forever. Last periods of his life were spent in a small apartment with no light-filled phone device, stuffed animals and plastic toys.
