Knowing Basic Application of Linux
06/10/2009 21:03For we are the beginner in the Linux and wanted to migrate from Windows to Linux we should try first a few Linux applications that we first identify previously.
May install Linux on a PC and we don't have an experience may situation like this will be trouble us.to avoid this better we have to know some of the applications we will use in Linux.
The following applications are:
- Windows Media Player / BSPLayer --> vlc, Totem
- Winamp, iTunes --> Amarok (KDE), Exaile, Rhythmbox, XMMS, BMP, Audacious, Banshee
- uTorrent / Bittorrent --> Transmissionbt, Deluge-torrent, KTorrent (KDE), Azureus
- Nero Burning ROM --> Brasero, k3b (KDE), Serpentine
- Windows Movie Maker --> Avidemux, Kino (KDE).
- 3D Studio MAX, Blender, Maya --> Blender, Maya, Softimage, K-3D (KDE)
- Internet Explorer --> Firefox, Opera, Konqueror, Epiphany
- Outlook --> Thunderbird, Evolution
- Microsoft Office --> Open Office, AbiWord, KWord
- ICQ, MSN Messenger, AIM, Yahoo Messenger --> Pidgin, Kopete, aMSN, KICQ
- FTP Client --> FileZilla, GFTP, KFTP (KDE)
- Photoshop --> GIMP
- Irfanview, ACDSee --> XnView, GQView, Mirage
