Infrastruktur WAN (Wide Area Network)

Just like LAN (Local ARea NEtwork) it has devices which can transfer data flow in its WAN. Joining these devices can make WAN infrastructure. These devices like are

• Router
• ATM Switch
• Modem and CSU/DSU
• Communication Server
• Multiflexer
• X.25/Frame Relay Switches

Router

router is device has fuction like to rise up capability of bridge, router data flow and filtering any information on the different segmet network. in some router automatically can detect a problem and divert line traficc data from the area problem.

Switch ATM

Switch ATM provide data transfer with high speed betwen LAN and WAN.

Modem (Modulator/Demulator)

modem is device to convert digital signal to Analog signal or Analog signal to Digital Signal. on the sender side, modem convert digital signal in to the form according to transmition tehnology to transfer via analog communication facility or telephony network (public telephone line). and on the receiver side modem convert signal into digital signal again.

CSU/DSU (Channel Service Unit / Data Service Unit)

CSU/DSU is just like same as Modem, which make different this device is if CSU/DSU transfer data in digital format via telephone digital network. CSU/DSU usualy fisically made in two unit seperated. CSU or DSU

Multiflexer

multiflexer transmit composite of many signal via a circuit. multiflexer can transfer many data simultanously like video, sound, text, etc.

Communication Server

Comunication server is special server to " Dial in/out" for user to dial from remote location ofcource in area networking.

Switch X.25/Frame Relay

Swicth X.25 and frame relay is device to connect local/provate data via networking, using digital signal. this unit is same like aTM switch make different is transfer data rate more lower than ATM
